About Us

Originally founded in 1998 El Barbacoa is now owned and run by Rachel, whom you may recognise as the restaurant manager of the last few years, and her excellent staff. We still adhere to the recipes originally sourced from North Mexico and our ingredients are from indigenous sources where possible. Our aim is to constantly improve upon our quality, presentation and service.

At El Barbacoa our food is prepared strictly to order, ensuring each meal is fresh, hot and wholesome. We also serve a wide range of Mexican beers and tequilas, sangria and margarita by the jugful and lush home made lemonade.

El Barbacoa is committed to serving original and traditional Mexican style food with the freshest ingredients available. Virtually everything on the menu is made fresh daily. Most of the recipes originate from Northern Mexico and the south-western USA. This style of food is not to be confused with Tex-Mex cooking.

Our staff are friendly and helpful (As long as you don't encourage them to join you on tequilas!). We strive and hope to serve you the best Mexican meal you have ever had this side of the Rio Grande!

10% service charge on groups of 6 or more people. We regret we cannot accept separate cheques.

We accept Switch, Access, Delta,Visa and MasterCard.

We're open for lunch Monday to Friday 12 - 2pm and evenings Monday to Saturday from 5.30pm.

Opening Times

Monday to Saturday Lunch 12noon to 2.30pm

Monday to Saturday Dinner from 5.30pm

Tuesday evenings are Tapas Nights only, from 5.30pm
